Re: Future game set-up concepts
I don't think it's really more work for him to have a way to express opinions he likely already holds, but it might not be a position he wants to be in. My concerns about giving it to players (aside from the previously-expressed metagame concern) is that we'll have a tendency to reward visible RP ra...

Re: Future game set-up concepts
Yes, factions will always form. The key is to make sure that it's multipolar factionalism (3-5 factions) so that there are shifting alliances and considerable uncertainty rather than bipolarity, which bogs down into a cold war. Part of it would be mechanical -- limiting the number of legally-binding...

Re: Future game set-up concepts
I think, up to a point, the addition of buildings and additional rules of such kind is part of why there is less rp. BIrthright at its core is very simplistic. If we want to really boost RP then a core game with simplistic rules might be the thing. It might also cut down on some of the difference i...

Re: Cultue, Traits, and Evolution
My view on this is much closer to MF's -- they're cultural differences and not biological differences. It would be like arguing that the difference between Germans and Italians is that they are different races rather than their cultures tend to emphasize different foci. My home state of Indiana prod...

Re: Cultue, Traits, and Evolution
Well, if the Unseelie empire has been wiped out by the reset, its dialect could still constitute an ancient language if it was a separate language from regular Sidhelein.

Cultue, Traits, and Evolution
The one thing that has remained constant across the many iterations of the meta-plot is the culture of the many peoples of the diaspora. However, they have often found themselves pushed in different directions than they originally were situated in in the base BR setting. So, one idea I thought I mig...

Re: Using "Blood Failure" to enforce Agreements
Again, apparently Juan sees it differently. And, it's not any divine blood that can do it. It's divine essence backed up by worshippers believing in that divine essence. That it cannot happen without a cleric and a faith ipso facto means that gods make it happen, not the blood itself. That the god e...

Re: Using "Blood Failure" to enforce Agreements
Strongly disagree with that interpretation. It's the gods, not the blood.

Re: Using "Blood Failure" to enforce Agreements
I personally have the opinion, that blood oaths or forced vasslage combined with loss of blood if breached are used to dominate and control other players. It should be something really seldom or bounded to a special course and not a routine where you can give contracts more security. Why should god...
