Are there any restrictions about what kind of unit our tier 3 unit can be, assuming we are keeping it? I assume anything you don't have the WP's or NWP's is out, but other than that?

Not True. You can reach almost every single province by ship. Longships are able to go up rivers, and there is water access via river to those two provinces.

IE, let's say metal working had been lost. If someone researched metalworking, would that have a game mechanics ...
