Maintain Armies is a trap! It is a non-responsive spell that only makes sense to cast on a large army that is not doing anything. Why do you have a large army doing nothing? If you have a large army - you should be attacking. :) I´d think its best use is when you got a big, but not quite big enough...

Thanks for answer on holy:) Concerns about Maintain Armies can easily be alleviated with the spell only takes effect during maintenance phase of the turn. Units would need to be present in the province it was cast in at end of turn to gain the effect. Would make sense to change it so there is a max ...
