What specific issue is the concern out of curiosity? Having been involved with several battles/wars now, the rules seem pretty decent and easy to enact now with the battle system. Leadership matters. Terrain matters. Troop make up/type matters. Spells matter.

Let's use circular logic (or use the term to define the term)...that's always helpful.

Those tend to be the outliers, not the common. Best trained, best equipped, and best led win more often than not.

I've been told no previously to stacking same items. If you had golem bane potion and golem bane weapon or golem bane scroll though, they would stack.

I'd think the mercenary piece is a holdover from previous games.
