Re: Questions
The Masked Mage was an opportunistic rebel who wanted to seize control of AF's sources. AF said, "OK, sure!"

Re: Questions
I don't believe anyone tried to resolve Masked Mage to make them a LT.
Randor/Dhoesone certainly used them once they were an active NPC, presumably with a pile of gold.

Re: Questions
But Haelyn was a case of someone (a rival) resolving the great captain who was not the target of the great captain, which is a different category I suppose from negatively impacting a great captain.

Re: Questions
Correct.
Anyone can attempt to resolve it. Usually it's best to get the free leveled/blooded LT, but if you are maxed out on LTs...or just really want to annoy someone...you can 'help' resolve it before them.
I've had a number where I or someone else 'attempted' with no GBs or NWPs added - just planned to win init and hoped for a low roll.

Re: Questions
My understanding of it is, if you resolve someone else's non-adventure event, you get the rewards if you succeed, but you suffer the penalties if it fails. So, resolve someone else's assassination and fail terribly, and you die instead of the intended target.
It seems to be possible to modify someone else's resolution roll, though.

Re: Questions
Not quite. If you attempt to resolve the Great Captain for someone else, it rarely blows back on you (unless you have appropriate type of holdings the Captain wants).
For example, if I'm a Guilder and am paid or for eahtever reason attempt to resolve a source Great Captain in some foreign land -- if I screw it up the Great Captain gets sources in the target land. They may later decide to make sources in my Guilder lands, but that depends entirely on how close I am to the original target province as well as how well defended the sources in my lands are (by whomever I have hired or has moved in on their own volition).

Re: Questions
For a hypothetical Fighter6/Priest6 multiclass character going on an adventure:
Has ECL 6?
Since +ECL item benefits are split between the two classes, if they have an odd +X ECL bonus is it rounded down or up? If down, that means there's no benefit at all to a +1 ECL item for them, unless they've got other +ECL bonuses.
Has 6 hits?
Gets a +1 for multiple class types?
Gets a +1 for multiple "people"? (a stretch, but I have to ask)

Re: Questions
Rounded down.
6 hits.
+1 EPL for multi-class.
+0 EPL (single character participating).

Re: Questions
Do not forget to add in skills... Local Knowledge is +1 to almost everything, Terrain mastery, then there are two skills for various monster types.
Do not forget to add in blood powers
Finally add in +2 EPL potion
On the defense potion of -4 hits to keep people alive.
