Birthright: Chimaeron

I want to make a map that's easier to communicate with. Where I can add terrain info (can just be text, doesn't have to be pictures), province names, etc. Bonus points if it looks pretty, unless it looking pretty is a lot of work. I've been using paint, but that feels pretty limited. Or, I guess, if you have tips for how to get the most out of paint.

Anyone have any free products/services to recommend? The old Cubist player from last game was making gorgeous maps before they left. They don't have to be that good.

To be honest I don't know much about map making, but those look pretty good, though of course they cost money.

I have been using GIMP. It is free but has a bit of a steep learning curve to it.
