I'd lean:

Animal Friendship can be used on Main Adventures, limited to 1
Animal Affinity can be used for Random Adventures

Summon spells same as last game?

Durations changed to 1 encounter. Only 1 casting at a time.

Yeah, 1 encounter, 1 casting at a time.

Same with anyone who theoretically might be able to rebuke undead. No having 20 undead marching around, you will be able to rebuke one group at any given time.

Or Raise Undead, 1 casting.

So Animal Friendship can not be used on random adventures, like it was last game?

Animal Affinity can be.

Animal Friendship is for main adventures.

That would be the idea, yes.

And what does it actually do casting the spell animal friendship for adventures?

While at it could someone explain the summon spells to with this adventure mechanism. I assumed spells and such are included in being a Level X Caster.

It means an adventure using actual AD&D rules. You could use Animal Friendship to have a Black Bear on your team for example (assuming you were high enough level with the 2xlevel HD). Same with all the other spells discussed. No casting summoning x5 at start of the adventure and swarming the adventure.

I know the spells and have played AD&D, but I don't understand what casting animal friendship etc gives me for the adventures in terms of rules. Do they count as an extra charater etc?
