Province: 1 Land, 1 Sea
Single Province Island: Province 3 - 2 Sea routes (no Land)

"Chain Routes"
Rogue Class characters can 'Chain' Trade routes. They can Chain up to length 1 + Level / 3 (rounded UP). Eg, Level 4-6 = Chain of 3, Level 7-9 = Chain of 4.

So, Chain Length 2 means:
A -> B -> C
D -> E -> C

A&B: Resources from A/B/C
D&E: Resources from C/D/E
C: Resources from A/B/C/D/E

Chain Length 3 means:
A->B, B->C, C->D (A -> B -> C -> D)

All 4 have resources available from any of those provinces.

So I Think at some point I had increased it to rounded up, instead of down, so Rogue 1-3 can in fact chain 3 provinces (chain length 2).

Since these games do not do the extra trade slots at Province 4, it may be worth considering allowing any combination of Land/Sea (LL SS LS) when the province is that well developed.

Can you clarify this for me? Being a realm with two provinces that make up an island, does that mean I can swap out the land route for a sea route?

My understanding is only the 2 single province islands. Crainn Aisle and fumerol. Since your provinces have a land route available, it is not converted.

Makes sense, but unfortunately both my provinces on my "island" create the same resource, so no need to link them for trade on that front. but... understood!

It isn't converted, they can still trade with each other being different terrains. Not super efficient, perhaps, but you can land between them, and sea out of both sides. For an additional chain from the island, you can also opt to have a Custom House...
