If the glove fits, you must throw her in the unable to post in public forums penalty box.

I will readily admit to wanting to 'win the game'. Of course I don't see my winning meaning anyone else loses. Winning for me is having fun, improving my character/realm, making friends and helping them improve, in a varying setting that provides obstacles to overcome that may result in further improvement or loss. While I wouldn't mind having the highest Bloodscore or level or army, etc my priority is having fun and working with others.

'Winning' to me means dominating the rankings and being the leader (or most influential character) of the most powerful in-game faction. Someone whose goal was to get here might flail madly to stay there, quit before their realm or character has a chance to fall from grace, or see the consensus shift toward starting a new game. (The game will have become stagnant--and likely have exposed fatal flaws with the rules--on the way toward someone 'winning' with such finality.)

(If the victory was a byproduct of good play, and the player is still open to letting others into the competition, their success doesn't have to be a bad thing. But, for that to be possible, winning has to be a secondary concern.)

Progression, character interaction (when it isn't repetitive), and cooperation are fun for me, too, though I don't need to have friends or progression to enjoy overcoming obstacles. I do at least need to have rivals. (Not the same thing as enemies--those are much less fun.) I like having fun and working with others, though my priority is keeping things interesting... and, hopefully, at a level of challenge and competition where we aid each other in becoming better (role-)players, and create stories with our actions, rather than use them to bend others to our will (or remove them from the game entirely).

I always win
8-)

My goals are always individual. One goal I had was to make my prophecies come true.

I do not like acting in overtly expected or straightforward ways - I prefer being tangential to the game's arch.

Precisely. We set our own goals.

Ditto. I went into this game with the goal of "found Diemed". It's a straightforward condition that can intersect with other people's goals but doesn't have to. I'm at a point of saying "close enough" to feel like I've already won this game. :D

So many players seemed to make efforts to bring about historical events, entities, dynasties, and organizations I was starting to wonder if agents from Homeline were sneaking around trying to convince people to save this echo from (destruction?) by bringing it back in line with mainline Cerillian history. (Presumably, while Centrum kept looting the place.)

It's good to know that was individually motivated and not just a metaplot thing.
