I think Moradin's still one of 'the best' from a game (im)balance perspective. Though not on the same level as others. The free research
was on another level. I'm amazed that was permitted at all, much less for him, given his portfolio. The Architect was more interested in technology, and Mask was literally the god of scholars.
Going through all the gods I didn't, before... Like the others, the Architect has the bonus building problem.
- [+] Arawn
- 'Their Libraries and Academies count as one level higher' is a dubious ability. Though +1 on research actions and a bonus class type at their Academies doesn't sound too bad.
What does it mean that the forged 'do not count as undead'? Does it just mean they're immune to abilities that only function against undead? If they're treated as living units, that means they're vulnerable to mind-effecting spells and morale effects, as well as attrition. Which is... interesting.
If there were ever a candidate for a god who would not have the Population Growth spell, Arawn seems to be it...
+1 Trade Chain length seems to have nothing to do with Rhyel's portfolio. Yes, he's a god of rogues, but not a god of guilds, trade, travel, merchants, or sailing.
It's hard to imagine how or why an entire unit of 'elite rangers' makes sense. It seems to be such rangers would be better described as Tier IV scouts. Tier V units are usually the core of a battlefield force, not a group of specialists.
Nesirie's priests look
great.
Mats has the 'bonus building' issue, too... Priest abilities should not be a way to circumvent the basic rules every other regent has to adhere to. They can just choose 'lab' and then add a cathedral, academy, or whatever. Or if multi-class, just a lab. Or they can help a bard or wizard friend build their own lab.
Question on the side, 'why do so many gods have tier V holy warriors'? Seems almost as popular as improved bless. I won't fault Mats for it more than others, but it seems strange that this is not just for gods of war and/or combat.
