I don't think you get XP from training units ATM. I asked Juan about this and if I remember correctly he said units don't give XP. But Juan should confirm if you get XP for units or ships.

That's odd if it doesn't give XP for training troops.

Training gives 100XP per 1GB of cost to upgrade the unit
Ships give somewhat similar XP, I think.
Builds (misc builds) give flat 500XP (granary, shipyard, etc)
Fortification gives 100XP per fort level, it looks like.

Anyway, we won't be changing the way builds are done for this game. If I can remove the double-trigger for fortifications, I might do that, but otherwise they will remain free actions / capped by court.
