Re: Expanding Summoning
With the cost gnoll irregular = 3points, each Orog = 6 points, each Stonecrown Ogre = 9 points you will get less Orogs at lvl 9 than the current spell. I think the orog and gnolls should be a bit cheaper but maybee caped to a certain number? At lvl 9 you can now get 3 Orogs or 2 Ogres. A nobrainer what to take. What about 2 points for gnoll, 4 points for orog and 9 points for Oger? And we find a cost per summon point used not per unit.

Re: Expanding Summoning
OR could make a new Realm Spell requiring a higher source level and call it Greater Summoning and have it summon Ogres and Giants.

Re: Expanding Summoning
Edited my post since I had some math issue in it.
Re: Expanding Summoning
Yeah, it would be cost-per-point, rather than unit, to also encourage using other unit types sometimes.

Re: Expanding Summoning
In the last game, Nimueh had a Shadow Summoning that was that way, 1 tier point per lvl. Quite more flexible bcos could simulate other races, although in this case there are enough types of troops.
On a sidenote, Giants last game had the very same stats as ogres, but could move and war at winter. It was great at beggining of game, quite crappy at end of game where any decent wizard could summon two ogres, but was a great adv prior as I said..,)

(Conjuration/Summoning)
Regency: 4RP/unit
Gold: 2GB/unit
Duration: 1 Turn + 1 Action/level
Using a powerful summoning spell, a wizard creates an army to do his bidding. At third level, a Wizard can summon 2x Gnollish Irregulars, at sixth level she could summon 2x Orog Infantry or Archers, or 4 Gnollish Irregulars, and at 9th: 2 Stonecrown Ogres, or 4 Orogs, or 6 Gnolls. At 12th, 4 Stonecrown Ogres, 6 Orogs, or 8 Gnolls. The army is available to defend where they are summoned the action they are summoned, but cannot move until the following action.
Considering restructuring it, though, to "summoning Points" that can be spent on different tiers of units.
Something like: 2 points per caster-level; each gnoll irregular = 2points, each Orog = 4 points, each Stonecrown Ogre = 9 points
Cost:
1RP per 2 summon points
1GB per 3 summon points
So at 14th level a wizard could summon 3 Ogre units or 14 Gnoll units. Who would win if 14 Gnolls went against 3 Ogres? Wouldn't the Gnolls win easily? How about 3, 5 and 8? That way if someone reaches 16th level they get a nice even 4 Ogres per summons.

Re: Expanding Summoning
I asked the same thing last game, was shot down. Not points, but maybe 4 ogres, 6 orogs or 8 gnolls you know.

14 gnolls would also cost 28 GB 58 RP while the ogres would cost 6 GB 12 RP.Py - Pyroneous wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 8:01 amDM Juan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 4:09 pmSummoning

Part of the spell upgrade is making it more cost effective, it isnt just power.

Re: Expanding Summoning
I Read everything except
1RP per 2 summon points
1GB per 3 summon points
.
Im not great on how the war works on them, but if 14 gnolls easily beat the 3 ogres I agree. Unless there is some other downside I have missed?
Could keep the gold/rp costs. Let you decide to go full out for power, or go the cost effective way. And do points for the rest.
Summomed mobs haveto eat too so it would make sense.
