Perhaps they should instead have a bonus vs. poison as in later editions of D&D - loosing something without getting something is never funny...

Correct, you give up your magic-aversion (which includes the save bonuses), in exchange for being an arcane caster.

Well they did gain something - they gained the ability to be a wizard, which they cannot be.

Why should a wizard not also be resistant to enemy magic? Sounds like something not necessary be unbelievable...

That logic works for dark elves in Greyhawk, but in BR, dwarves are special but mageless, just like elves are special but priestless.

It isn't about being believable, it is about being reasonable. The trade off on being wizard-less, is they resist magic. If you can be a wizard, you shouldn't be resistant.

Magic resistance from monsters are also not hindering them to cast spells.or be wizard.. nothing to do with resonable but you are DM- if you want to delete one important dwarf ability for me in middle of main adventure so be it...

I would not make any changes in a current adventure. Do it after.

By the way in later D&D editions dwarfes can be wizard, so no real balance issues really
