Human Languages
Given the timeline of the meta-plot, it might make sense to have more ancient human languages. Like
Aduric (the ancient variant spoken by the Janus worshippers in Zedfrost and the ancient ones in Taelshore) -> Andu (the "classic" old language) -> Imperial (the language spoken at the time of the first diaspora -> Anuirean (the "modern" version of Anuirean)
Alt Brecht -> Hoch Brecht (the liturgical language of the Temple of the Architect) -> Plattbrecht (the Brecht of the old Diaspora) -> Brecht (modern version)
Khinasi -> Basarji
Runic (the old Vos language) -> Vos (the new one with the Cyrillic alphabet)
Masetian (Dead Language)
Rjuven -> Rjurik (dead language)

Re: Human Languages
I like the idea, and if your faith takes a "secret language" you could opt for an ancient tongue. Or to use up all the slots you get if you take "human languages" with the faith trait of +1 language per level...

Ah.. I have no idea what meta-plot you’re talking about, let alone the timeline of it, or why this would be a good idea..AB - Alim Büyücü wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 7:00 pmGiven the timeline of the meta-plot, it might make sense to have more ancient human languages.

The death and rebirth of the world. The languages of original Birthright followed by those created by a merging of the peoples in the 1st Diaspora and continuing on through that new world's history up until we fled into this new iteration of the world.Ma - Mag wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 4:31 amAh.. Re: Human Languages
Thanks, that makes it a tad more comprehensible. And each restart there is another human tribe that dies out? Hence the two dead languages?

Re: Human Languages
That is the theory, might be a little early and 'meta' to appreciate that in character yet.
Also, the Goblin race may have died out, as current goblins and half-goblins are elves "corrupted " by Ryell's ascension some 1300 years ago, which now might be accredited to the Shadow's corruption.

Also don't feel bad about being hazy on the history, the many past events fall into the realm of forgotten and ancient history now as opposed to common history.

Re: Human Languages
My players lack of knowledge is entirely covered by the characters background, so the meta stops there no worries. Thanks for the warning though (and the character has the nwp ancient history btw )AP - Apiskopalny Piekielne wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 8:54 amThat is the theory, might be a little early and 'meta' to appreciate that in character yet.

Re: Human Languages
It is also possible we're not even on the same continental landmass as any of the original tribes, so just because we speak a European language, now that we're in Aboriginal Australia it wouldn't even come into play.

It is still the ancient languages of 'your people.'
