I expected the cost of the spell to be part of the bid really..
cost of the spell is pre-bid -- it's the price to even play the game for the wizard.

if they anticipate trouble, they best have the RP to back it up.

I personally don’t like changing rules or inventing new ones in the middle of game- it always makes the gaming feel foul, especially if you win through talking the dm to something balance changing. Everybody should have the chance to decide for a class with fixed rules.

This isn’t a rule change. The wording could be interpreted several ways so we are trying to clearly define it.

Subversion is a better defection, but that you can bid against, remember that first. If you need to bid the underlying cost, it is too good.

I lean towards method 1 of bidding

Ley lines, holdings, espionage and rule actions all use method #2 at this time. Why would this suddenly be a completely different system?
Kinda haveto agree with thisone. I was certain this was how it worked myself.

I rather think option 3 is better really, but option 2 means rules are the same across more actions for simplicity, and also... I think most thougth this was how it alraedy was.

We are all play tester now instead of enjoying the game. And the chance will be there that something unbalancing will end this game and the joy of a lot of people suddenly. same as last game. If more and more players are leaving, we should learn to change something to stabilize instead changing rules in mid game to the disadvantage of wizards.

I view every game as a playtest.

DH this is no change. Juan is asking how to interpret the spell as it is unclear.

Ok looks like it’s number 1. Let’s get on with the slaughter!
