There are ways around this problem. I think we wait and see if it is impossible to deal with and adjudge at that point.

If it isn't changed this game, this is what happens in an example...

Going to use an unnamed wizard as an example.

Unnamed wizard creates a source 0 in mithril. He then creates a ley line to Mithril. He then casts warding on Mithril. He successfully contests out any other sources in his next actions.

Mithril is now his in all but name as you cannot break the warding since no one else has a source there.

There was a clear intention that warding can be countered, using leylines

The requirement now to 'create a source prior to leylines' needs to be factored into the intended strategy to counter a Warding spell.

Contingency Dispel with your Source there before you lose it. Prevent them creating the Source in the first place. Prevent them creating the Leyline. Sunder Ley Line in the adjacent or casting Province. Assassinate the casting Wizard. Destroy their source Source so that the Wards have no Source 5 attached. If you own Mithril and have a local army - occupy the province and burn out their source...

Killing said wizard can't be done if he makes the warded province his capital. Espionage assassination is a domain action, which is not on the list of possible actions to perform.

So actually, it should be expanded to be "with the exception of casting of dispel realm magic, the creation of a source, creation of leylines, or an espionage assassination (provided the assassin can make it through the ward using rules above) into said province."

Can only burn out the source if you are a wizard since non-wizards don't see sources I believe.

I have always liked the interpretation of warding as a wall at the edges of the province, not a fog covering the entire landscape.

You are free to act and move around inside the ward but can't interact with your domain outside the ward (without being shepherded through by a wizard or cleric). Sure you trapped the enemy army, but they are still able to impact the warded province they marched into.

If you are a wizard or have a wizard with you you can locate sources.

Sunder Ley Line has the same issue, it has to be cast in a province with the Ley Line. Additionally to see Ley Lines, you need to cast another spell first (or have the Ruornil Enhanced Sense).
