Re: Future game set-up concepts
The Ruler and regents of Mhoried and all their heirs have been slain by the Gorgon in one of his cullings. PCs are all human, Half Elf, Dwarf or Halfing? All are deeply rooted in Mhoried and are minor nobles, guilders, priests or wizards. Many of the holding and provinces have become uncontrolled as the Gorgon's Bloodsilver weapon has severed the ties to the land and there was no land's choice for some reason. We have Markazor to the East, The Five Peaks to the northwest, the greedy and ambitious Ghoere to the south all looking to take a piece of a leaderless Mhoried. We all want to unite the land under ourselves or take all Temples or Guilds or Sources because our blood drives us to RULE but at the same time we have to work with or make concessions to our rival Mhoriedians to defend our home against outside threats.

Re: Future game set-up concepts
The design of the game doesn't respect the preferences of the players. It's the other way around. It is not just 'for me' that this game punishes players who want to treat it more like a war game than a game of diplomacy--it does this for everyone.
There's such a thing as too much diplomacy, sure. Though, I don't think it would be a problem if we broke it up into forums and private conversations, as usual. Just because we're all in one province doesn't mean we need to have 25 people in the same conversation, no more than being in the same world does.VV - Vic Vru wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 3:05 pmIm saying to much diplomacy is bad. If all start at the same place you basilcy need to engage with everyone from start, Like the game is now, you engage with the people around you and don't have to engage with 25 people at the same time...

The design of the game focused on domain rule, realms spells for priests and wizards, and a lot of war.MF - Morcuan the Fay wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 3:23 pmThe design of the game doesn't respect the preferences of the players. Re: Future game set-up concepts
I don't think it's true that people who can't respond frequently 'couldn't survive'. They could survive the same way they do now, by being ignored, or by being useful to someone else. Players who are more actively engaged have an overwhelming advantage/disadvantage (depending on how well their diplomatic efforts go) regardless of the starting setup.MM - Maro Mithrilhand wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 3:14 pmI dont think 25 players starting in the same location is a good idea. For the active here this could be manageable but the people who can respond once a day would not survive in such a game. There would be some groups that form quickly that will dominate the game.

All or almost all players that are leaders of the game usually starts by conquering other countries nearby early in game by focusin' in producin' quickly units, if u mean that as diplomacy.,)..heheh

Don't attempt to confuse the focus of the game design with what the game is designed to encourage or discourage, or how it's designed to be used. The game has light rules with limited depth for a reason, just as it aims to empower its own unique core concepts such as Investiture and Usurpation for a reason.

Duly noted that players who have less time to spend would be at a disadvantage, though as MF noted this is already the case. It could be to a greater degree in a setup where everyone starts in one spot.MM - Maro Mithrilhand wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 3:14 pmI dont think 25 players starting in the same location is a good idea. Or we play Alamie and Tuornen. John is the ruler of one side and Amy is the Ruler f the other and they pick teams out of the rest of us and pick what holdings/provinces we start with. The Thrilla in Cerilia! 30 turns of no holds boxing!

It's important to use vulnerability to pregame collusion as an evaluation tool for all of the suggestions.
