Re: Future game set-up concepts
Is it? I think it is more fun when I can plan ahead and have goals and objectives. There is nothing I like less than games that feel like d3 turn games where you have to rush to do things because nothing can ever be accomplished because the game is going to end (or some nonsense is going to happen). If nothing I do matters then I am not going to bother doing anything.

Yeah, there will be a selection of trade routes pre-established.

What if what you do matters, but not in the way you thought it would? Like Alexander the Great and his three generals. Or the Mongol invasions.

You need different races to develop the different province types. Like you are describing it Juan either all will be the same race or you will place the different races far from each other.

Each race can develop every terrain type. They are not necessarily as efficient in utilizing the terrain (ie lower max province level, slower movement, etc), but sometimes controlling a province is more important than being able to be rule it up to level 6 or whatnot.
One of the first wars in the first Diaspora was over some mountains (and neither side were Karamuhl).

The first one was also about mountains, or more specifically, who would own the road to those mountains. Also no Karamhul. And only one side knew what the war was about.

So if there are predefined realms with excisting trade routes do we choose what class and race we want to play and you place us with corresponding holdings?

Also I want to point out that us Karamhul have not been hostile. I have granted Vaclav temples in the mountains and he has granded me temples in the plains. There is trade going on between the Karamhul and humans and even Karamhul and Mishrak.

Re: Future game set-up concepts
The Taelshore game had pre-established realms. I think Juan asked us what sort of class/race we wanted and then he tried to shoehorn us in as something close to that.

Taelshore was my first starting from the beginning. My recollection is that we ranked our top 4ish realms we wanted to play and Juan did his best to give people what they wanted. There might have been rounds for picking?
