Monolith
Re: Monolith
Monolith I/II/III/IV/V
Cost: 10 GB/levell
Benefit: Counts as a Palace of the same level. Get 1 Free Leyline from your capital to another source per level of Monolith. Your capital source is counted as 1 level higher at Monolith II, and 2 levels higher at Monolith IV. You may store 1 spell in a Monolith, to be cast later - the spell can be stored 1 turn per Monolith level.

Re: Monolith
The spell lasts -- can be stored? Or whatever is cast from it lasts?
I'm envisioning a recurring mass destruction/volcano effect for some reason.

Looks like it means when you prepare a spell, instead of having to cast it or start over, you can store it, cast something else, then come back and cast it later.

Re: Monolith
Essentially you can pre-cast say Defection. And with a Monolith 3, if you are invaded in 2 turns as an example, you can have the spell release in the Monolith province, without costing an action. So you theoretically can move a past action into the future, to have more action-economy during a war. But it wears out, so you should only really do it if you know it is coming.

Re: Monolith
Sounds fun. I can think of lots of ways it could be used outside of wars, too.

Re: Monolith
I like the concept. Having played a priest/wizard, I did not see a real reason to consider a Monolith. This would make it something to consider. Would it still do the free ley lines and the Enhance Source?DM Juan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 5:41 pmIt's a better Palace. No upkeep, and gives out a handful of leylines. It is under-powered compared to it's nearest equivalent the Cathedral. It needs a bit of an upgrade. I am thinking acts as Enhancing Source at 2, 4 (ie; Increases source effective level by up to 2)

The answer is already there. This isn't the first time this has been the case.BB - Bronzebeard wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 7:32 pmI like the concept. Re: Monolith
I think free spell research is better than free ley lines, if it's going to be a one-time benefit at each monolith level. There's lots of spells that never get researched, spell research is always the same difficulty no matter what the spell is, and ley lines have lots of mechanics that are intended to balance them that just get steamrolled over when they're automatic and free.

Hi Juan,
as I already said in the start, I would use other words to make your intend clear- if your intend is as before:
"No. Each level allows 1 free leyline create action, once. And counts as a palace level."
Monolith I/II/III/IV/V
Cost: 10 GB/levell
Benefit: Counts as a Palace of the same level. Get 1 Free Leyline create action from your capital to another source per level of Monolith once at the creation of the monolith. Your capital source is counted as 1 level higher at Monolith II, and 2 levels higher at Monolith IV. You may store 1 spell in a Monolith, to be cast later - the spell can be stored 1 turn per Monolith level.
