It was the case, but I streamlined it before this game started. War Adventures no longer have exploding D6s, and wizards no longer give extra bonuses.

So can wizards research war spells again or will you bury this interesting part of the BR Setting, too?

I think "war spells" are covered by a 10th level wizard having a +5 EPL modifier for war adventures.

There have never been war spells in any of the games. It doesn't work in an online PBeM, it only really works if you are running the battles manually, with each side providing input. The whole mechanics of War-Adventures is a streamlined application of the Battle-Spell function.

Priests have loads of Battle-Spells too, which are nearly as good as Wizardry ones. But again, are not really implemented. The Best Case is you make a Unique Tier 4 unit that quasi-has a battle spell effect 1/battle, like some have had Cure Unit.

An option is to add back some modifier say 1/3 levels (rounded down) to EPL for having a wizard. To be honest, all it does is inflate the DC by 1 that everyone will do the adventures at, as basically everyone will drag along a wizard.

I believe battle spells are a necessary sacrifice, for this format of play.

There are lots of rules that just arent functional in a PBEM. Either for balance and fairness or just practicality.

If you are going to give the Wizards back their bonus, and there is no chance of capture (with non explosion d6s) make them pay for it.
Battle spells required a spot in a spellbook as a spells known, so instead of level base it on spells known.
Battles spells had GB costs, so instead of a bonus, allow a wizard to pay GB capped by the highest level spell for the bonus.

Eh whats the big deal? The high war adventure DC only gave them an extra unit right? Didn't effect the rest of the units or anything else?

I think the bigger deal, is losing the exploding d6s.

There was a whole mechanic for battlefield death and capture, that will never be used as safe war DCs are going to be selected.

Maybe there is potential for a player to set the minimum DC of a battle, in some fashion.
